Our Mission
Welcome to the American Cowboy Museum, located at the historic Taylor-Stevenson Ranch. Founded by Mollie Taylor Stevenson Jr., a Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductee, we are dedicated to preserving the diverse legacy of the West.
We shine a light on the African American, Hispanic, and Native American cowboys who helped shape the frontier but are often overlooked in mainstream history. Through education, heritage, and community engagement, we keep the spirit of the cowboy alive.

Explore 600+ Acres on Our Guided Bus Tour
One of the most exciting ways to experience the Taylor-Stevenson Ranch is through our guided bus tour, which takes visitors across more than 600 acres of historic land. As you ride comfortably, you’ll journey through wide-open pastures, scenic trails, and cultural landmarks that showcase the rich legacy of cowboys and ranch life. Along the way, knowledgeable guides share stories of African American, Hispanic, and Native American cowboys whose contributions shaped the American West. This immersive tour offers a unique opportunity to see the ranch’s vast beauty while connecting with the living history of cowboy culture.
A Legacy in Action
As featured in Broadcast Houston’s spotlight, founder Mollie Stevenson Jr. continues to champion Black Western heritage. Through initiatives like the Virtual Ag Science Conservation Camp, we ensure that future generations understand the importance of conservation, agriculture, and cowboy traditions.
